It doesn’t come easy when making a spot on a social media platform. With dedication and passion, Ruben Chorlton-Owen is now recognized as a top media influencer & entrepreneur. We were lucky enough to be able to ask Ruben some questions on how to get going on social media.
How did you get going with Social Media and is there a certain age for this?
I don’t think so. I started at a very young age, looking around on the internet, watching YouTube videos, and so on. I was educating myself on all aspects of entrepreneurship and social media and trying different things out. I eventually found what I was passionate about and decided to focus on my career path, with what worked for me. You have to find something first that you are interested in, if you don’t do that then you won’t get very far.
How important is social media today?
Very important in today’s times. Social media is one of the best platforms to get yourself or your brand out there. It’s very flexible and easy to use and most certainly the best for attention and viewership. It’s also very easy to target specific areas or people using social media, compared to other marketing techniques.
What are your biggest tips for aspiring social media creators?
I would suggest engaging with followers, to begin with. Making sure you interact with people who are following you as a figure, or follow your brand is essential. It will make them more interested in what you’re posting. They will most likely remain active when you do this. Another tip is to be consistent. Regular posting, updates on what’s going on, across all platforms you use. Keep up with whatever is trending too across social media, and pay attention to it. It will help you create content and get good ideas of what people are interested in at the time. Also, try to use analytics, it will help you find the content you’re best at, or whatever your followers prefer.
What helps you to keep going and motivated with your career and goals?
I believe thinking about the future helps me keep going. I have set targets and dreams I want to achieve, and by doing this I work towards them more and more every day. The previous results I have achieved too for sure help me stay on track. I love to be able to share my life with the world, and make other people feel inspired or happy! For sure my passion helps with my drive too, if there isn’t passion, then you will struggle.
