PERTH GOES UNDER SUDDEN LOCKDOWN AFTER A GUARD TEST CORONAVIRUS POSITIVE

The Australian city of Perth is going for a five-day lockdown after a security guard at a quarantined hotel positive for coronavirus.

Perth is the capital of the state of Western Australia, which has not had a positive case of coronavirus for the past 10 months.

The lockdown is to begin today at 18:00 (10:00 GMT) till Friday night. People have started queueing outside the supermarkets before the lockdown starts to gather essentials. Everything is ordered to be closed schools, restaurants, bars, cinemas, and gyms have all been ordered to close. 

While the government has allowed travelling only for essentials things or in time of need, wearing masks has been made compulsory.

People must stay at home, except for essential work, food shopping, or exercise, said Mark McGowan.

Premier of Western Australia state announced that people living in nearby Peel and southwest regions to stay at home. Except for essential work, healthcare, food shopping, or exercise.

Mr McGowan, in his news press conference, told that the decision might come as a shock to people of Western Australia. Still, it is also of necessity because the virus can spread rapidly and can cause quite a devastation.

He further added that they intend to deal with it as quickly and harshly as possible. So they can stop the virus from spreading into the community and keep it under control.

Australia has been strong and upfront to people about the inconvenience caused but cannot help contain the virus. Australia has recorded nearly 29,000 cases and 909 cases in a population of 25 million. Moreover, it has been ranked on eighth in the list of countries best response to coronavirus.
