COVID 19: Pandemic is exposing the Public Health System in the US

Many reports from different experts suggest that the ongoing pandemic has exposed the US’ Public Health System. Since March 2020, COVID-19 completely changed lives not only in the US but all over the world. The governments decided to shut down all schools and offices worldwide.

However, after a year since the first case of COVID, different reports suggest that the US’ national public health system is already exposed. The constant lack of fundings and neglecting behaviour from the previous government is quite apparent now. Moreover, these reports have explained how health departments failed to respond correctly to the pandemic.

The CEO of Trust for America’s Health, John Auerbach, also added that this pandemic clearly illustrates the consequences of ignoring.

Moreover, John Auerbach also added that emergency preparedness includes all kinds of hazards’ emergencies. Thus, the US’ Public Health System should be able to handle weather-related emergencies as well.

John Auerbach criticises the government

He further criticised the government’s actions and added that they never maintained an infrastructure to handle a pandemic. Indeed, Congress is ready to invest in the hiring or training of medical personnel. But, they’re less interested in investing in the people who drive the ambulance or operate testing labs.

John Auerbach further explained the lack of depth of expertise in the Public Health System. He added that these people are most important in emergencies, and you really should have these people with the right skills in your health network.
