The New Pandemic Norm: Finding the Good & Embracing Thankfulness

Covid-19

Once the pandemic hit at the first of the year in 2020, it took the world by storm. People were losing their lives, losing their jobs, and losing their sense of all that was right. At the time, we were in cold and flu season, but nobody was prepared for what was later to come.

The pandemic has definitely brought about lifestyle changes and economic hardships for many people. Not only are people becoming homeless but animal shelters are filling up as well. But in the midst of all the “bad” that the pandemic has brought, is there a way to find any good from it? Has it really been awful this whole time?

It honestly depends on who you’re asking the question to. Are you asking someone who always sees the glass half full or someone who sees the glass half empty? Now, finding the good in the pandemic isn’t dismissing all the trauma and tribulations that people have experienced from it. Finding the good in the pandemic is simply putting a focus on the things that haven’t gone bad for you and being thankful for those things.

Thankfulness is something that when it comes to talking about the pandemic, no one ever expresses their gratitude, and understandably so. But even for those enduring economic hardships, even they have things to be thankful for during these crazy times.

The next time you have a conversation about the pandemic, and all you hear is negativity and complaining, try transforming the conversation and talk about the things you’re thankful for and see how other people join in. Remember, positivity is just as contagious as negativity, and we have enough negativity in the world as it is… Try spreading a little positivity this go-round.

Aspects of the Pandemic to Find the Good In and Be Thankful For

More Family Time

When orders were put in place to stay home, it forced families all over the world to be in each other’s presence, and for many, it initially felt like the world was coming to an end… The thought of always being at home with your hyper kids or your nagging wife was mentally exhausting. But as you watched the news and saw how people were dying after contracting the virus, it started putting life into a better perspective for many families.

Would you rather be at home with your seemingly nagging wife or sitting having dinner with her? The pandemic brought about a new appreciation and respect for quality family time. And even when the world finally opens back up, many will still make time for quality family time.

Better Control Over Finances

The pandemic has caused many people to lose their jobs, and because no one’s job was truly secure, it made people go back and look at their budget to cut back and save in areas as much as they possibly could so that their families could financially survive.

For some families, that meant getting rid of cable, canceling gym memberships, and switching to renewable energy at choosesolar.com to lower utility costs. Had it not been for the real threat of job loss, most people would have gone on spending their money on unnecessary purchases and not looked for ways to reduce their monthly expenses.

Realization That Life is Too Short

Unfortunately, the loss of loved ones is what it took to make people realize that life is too short. But in that realization, it made more people communicate and put aside silly differences and grudges from the past. It is unfortunate that it took this to get some people to have this realization, but when life happens, it hits hard, and the only thing you can do is resent it or learn from it.

Hopefully, this put a new perspective in your mind about the pandemic, and you can find some good in it and be thankful for the good you’ve found.
