Talk show legend Larry King passes away at 87

Larry King, the long time and globally acclaimed host, dies at the age of 87. He was a long time CNN host and an icon by hosting interviews with countless newsmakers. 

In his career of six decades, he has conducted around 50,000 interviews. Out of which, Larry was hosting a talk show titled ‘Larry King Live’ for over 25 years. He interviewed various people from celebrities, movie stars, presidential candidates, and everyday people on the show. However, he retired in the year 2010. 

The legendary talk show host is no more

According to Ora Media, he died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, this Saturday. Ora Media is a production company, of which Larry was the co-founder. 

While the exact reason for his death is not yet confirmed, but he was tested positive for COVID-19 at the beginning of this month. 

The news of his passing was posted on his verified Facebook account yesterday morning by his son Chance. 

The talk show icon had faced many health issues, which also includes a heart attack. 

The host was married eight times to seven women and had five children. Two of his kids died last year due to lung cancer and heart attack. Larry lost his daughter and a son, within a span of weeks last year. 

Procured health issues

In last years’ December, Larry was admitted in hospital with COVID-19. He battled several health problems over the years as well, from several heart attacks to a quintuple bypass surgery in 1987. The bypass surgery inspired him to establish the ‘Larry King Cardiac Foundation’ to provide help to those without insurance. Most recently, in 2017, Larry had stated that he had been diagnosed with lung cancer. However, he underwent a successful surgery for it. 

The unmatched talent

Larry King is known for interviewing every sitting president of the States, from Gerald Ford to Barrack Obama. Moreover, he has interviewed other world leaders as well. Moreover, his high profile list of interviewees include Martin Luther King, Dalai Lama, Lady Gaga, Nelson Mandela and more. 

Born in the year 1933, in Brooklyn Larry rose to fame in the 1970s. IT was with a radio show, titled ‘The Larry King Show.’ The show was on a commercial network Mutual Broadcasting System. 

In 1985, Larry launched The Larry King Live on CNN and became one of the biggest network’s star. 

In his lifetime Larry has earned numerous honours and awards, including Peabody awards.
