It’s Not About Showing Off – Newcomer Poldi Is Shaking Up The Rap Scene

German Newcomer Poldi aka Leopold Karrer is currently disrupting the European rap scene. By doing nothing else, but keeping it real.

Poldi is fully aware that he is going against the grain of what is common for the rap scene in the modern age. And this does not deter him in the slightest he is happy to be building his own movement. As a matter of fact, you could easily argue that he couldn’t have picked a better time to launch his material.

Poldi’s debut single is called ‘Liebe > Hass’ translating to ‘Love is bigger than hate’, a statement that finds itself in large contrast then what is often typical of the rap genre. Unfortunately, it often seems that the industries artists prefer to focus on faking their streams and fitting in plenty of show-boating both lyrically and through their videos. But this just backs up even further why Poldi is such a welcome breath of fresh air.

The German star grew up on what we would now think of as old school rap, and the values that linked to that music have stayed with him to this day. Using his writing skills along with his rapping technique, he is able to share his thoughts on deep topics such as the legacy of values and morals. He focuses on addressing urgent topics and issues of his generation, something that is again, very welcome from a modern-day rapper. Every generation being able to have their say is of course important, but it is well documented how particularly Poldi’s generation often think that their opinions do not receive enough coverage. As the 20-year old who is signed with 99 Problemz Music states: ‘It’s not about showing off. I want people to feel as if we’re on the same level and have similar issues. There wouldn’t be a point in talking about a lifestyle I don’t care about. I want people to know that I actually care about my listeners and the subjects I speak upon. This provides a special connection between the listener and the artist, which bragging about my wealth just won’t cut.’
