In the heart of San Francisco resides a visionary who has spent his life preserving Nepalese culture, bridging the gap between the United States and Nepal. Anil Pandey is a remarkable individual, who established “Motherland Nepal,” a nonprofit organization in 2005. The organization is aimed at promoting Nepal as a tourist destination and nurturing the Nepalese community in the United States. Pandey’s unwavering commitment and tireless efforts have touched countless lives, leaving an indelible mark on the Nepalese community and on the society at large.
“Motherland Nepal” is a non-profit organization and a symbol of hope and unity. During the 2015 earthquake in Nepal, “Motherland Nepal” was one of the most generous donors, providing much-needed relief to those in distress. Under Pandey’s guidance, the organization has successfully spearheaded various initiatives in Nepal and the United States. Notable ones include the establishment of the Nepalese Community Center, the construction of the Jay Shree Mukti Naath Temple in the Bay Area, school funding, awareness campaigns, and support for those in need. Additionally, the organization has held and organized numerous interactive events and cultural exchange programs aimed at promoting cross-cultural understanding and unity.
Beyond his philanthropic works, Pandey is a culinary entrepreneur. He is the founder of “Everest Cuisine,” alongside his partner Prince Yubraj Karki and their dedicated team (Chef Sagar & F&B Manager Dip). The restaurant is known for introducing the Bay Area to the delightful fusion of Nepalese and Indo-Chinese cuisine. With its first outlet established in 2019, in Mountain View, Everest Cusine has expanded to San Jose, California in 2021. Pandey credits the venture’s success to his partner, Mr. Karki, who boasts an impressive hospitality education background and substantial experience, having worked at the renowned Villa Bali resort as a Food and beverage manager, including overseeing events and banquets. Mr. Karki’s experience, combined with Pandey’s more than 36 years in the hospitality industry, has set a remarkable example in the Bay Area business landscape.
Their menu, featuring popular dishes such as Titanic Jhol Momo, Tandoori Momo, Saag Paneer, Goat Biryani, Tandoori Paneer Tikka, and Butter Chicken, has captured the hearts and taste buds of patrons, making “Everest Cuisine” a go-to dining destination in the Bay Area.
