How to Build a Career in Aesthetics: Zara Harutyunyan Shares Her Advice

Have you ever considered pursuing a career in the aesthetic industry? If so, you’re in good company, the US’s medical aesthetic industry is one of the fastest-growing fields in the country, and with so much demand for information on how to begin your career, it can be quite a tricky field to navigate. We went to one of the best in the industry and asked for her advice; Meet Zara Harutyunyan, Founder of CRMC Aesthetics. Her company has grown to be one of Southern California’s largest botox and medical aesthetics companies, so if anyone has an idea on what to do, it’d be her. In this article, we interview her for her advice on 3 key milestones in your journey.

Starting in the industry

“Follow your dream, and follow your passion. I believe being new and having much competition will always be the biggest barrier. So I focused on the patients ( great results and customer service) and continued to have good retention and happy patients who referred.”

Breaking this down: When you’re new to the industry, it’s important to have a factor that’s going to make you stand out; for Zara, her edge was focusing on the patient experience from results to customer service. She knew if she could do a great job, they’d be eager to recommend her work to all their friends, and therefore bring her great referral business as she continued to grow a clientele.

First two years in the space

“The first two years are the hardest. Be patient and focused. DON’T GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS! Now is your chance to really nail down that customer experience. A formula I always followed went something like (great consultation, great results, great customer service). From the moment they were in my office, I would let my expertise lead the way educating them, then provide the results, and finally ensure they were always satisfied.”

Breaking this down: It seems like the key to having a successful business in the aesthetics space will come from creating an equation and process that you can repeat and multiply. Zara’s equation begins by creating happy patients who return. Providing a great consultation (she educates her patient), giving great results, and just being sweet.

How to Continue the Growth

“Invest in education; education is key. You can never be overeducated. Continuing our education always on new treatments. Staying up to date with new and innovative devices that come out and ensuring we can snag one always provides the latest advancements in treatments. Train and provide more providers.”

Breaking this down: If you get to the point in your career with a steady client base, the sky’s the limit from here. If you are continuing to innovate, learn and find new ways of growing your business to keep up with a changing economy, you will have no problem getting to the top of the food chain in this space.
