Tough Decisions In Care Of Elderly Loved Ones: Dignity, Safety, Quality of Life (A guide for caregivers) is really a timely read can you tell us what inspired you to write this rather epic book?

I am Medical Director at couple of Nursing homes and I meet a lot of family members who are lost when they are taking care of their older relatives. I see the siblings fighting with each other and the spouses crying all the time when they can’t take care of the older relatives. I wanted to provide a guide that serves as helping hand for all the relatives who take care of their older relatives with Mental and physical problems.

Writing a book can be a very interesting process. Did you learn anything about yourself while writing this book?

Most important thing I learned was the fact that it takes a lot more time to write book than I initially thought. While writing the book I realized that I need to spend more time with my parents, siblings and other relatives.

You are a doctor so was writing a book challenging for you?

Yes, it was. It takes a lot of time away from other activities in the evenings or on weekends. I had to lot of research to get all the facts right. So it does take a toll on you, but it is worth it.

As a doctor what has it been like working in the time of COVID 19?

I am not on the frontlines. Most of my practice is Telemedicine due to COVID-19. I miss my office practice as I love to sit next to patient and talk to them. Many a times I hold hands of my elderly patients, while I talk to them.

When you aren’t writing or treating patients, what do you do to unwind?

I run or walk about 1 hour a day. I love hiking. I am pretty active on social media like FB and Linked. I have more than 20K followers on social media.
